Facial Spasms

Post a new topicby RickP227 on Wed Apr 29, 2009 7:21 pm

I have had a problem with facial spasms for the past year or so. It started with my left eyelid twitching for a few minutes one to several times per day. I asked my GP about it and he said it is most likely related to caffeine intake. Over the past year it has progressed to the left cheek and the left corner of my mouth. I have eliminated caffeine from my diet and it seemed to reduce the recurrences, but after a few days or a week the conditions returns. I take carbidopa/levidopa for restless leg syndrome, which was pretty much under control with one 25/250 mg pill per day. Lately I have to take it a couple times one or two days per week. Several days ago I had a particularly long lasting episode of facial spasms that affected most of the left side of my face. I took a carbidopa/levidopa pill and it seemed to subside fairly soon. Don't know if that was a coincidence or not. Since, I have taken a pill in the morning and another just after supper. It seemed to be effective for a few days, then the spasms returned. Not quite as strong, but definitely there. I am a 64 year old male who has had both hips replaced and two disks removed from my neck. Lots of arthritis.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
