Re: help to stop a loved one from smokingHey riley11,
Your right when you say he has to decide for himself to stop. I just read a few stories that maybe you could share with you loved one and possibly help convince him to quit. http://livingwith.pulmonologychannel.com/smoking/20070717_1481 Good Luck!
Re: help to stop a loved one from smokingYou could try an intervention by getting together a bunch of family members and talk to him about why you want him to stop smoking and how much it would mean to you. Have every family member present do this. It may be helpful also to mention some recovery programs to the smoker.
Re: help to stop a loved one from smokingif you ever find a a way let me know .i have copd and my husband smokes I tell him to take care of his lungs . because I do not want him to end up like me . Re: help to stop a loved one from smokingHello
My name is David and untill a few days ago I used to smoke 2 packs a day. I have tried, like many others, to quit for years. I have tried everything in the market, gums, paches, even chantix. However I must say that nothing comes close to the eCigarette. It is so easy to quit with it. The whole point is you just keep smoking! The eCigarette dosen't contiain any tabbacoo or tar, which means it is a lot less harmful then an old fastion cigarette. On top of everything, since the eCigarette is non flameable and contains no tabbaco there is no laws that phorhibed its use anywhere. You can smoke it whereever you want, at the mall, the airport, your office, at home, anywhere at all! Check it out [moderator note: website address has been removed]
Re: help to stop a loved one from smokingshow him the quitnet site. Also show him the whyquit.com as well. But you are right if he don't want to quit then there is nothing that you can do about it. He has to want to quit before he will be successful...
Re: help to stop a loved one from smokingThe Side Effects of Smoking
• Smoking can wreck your lungs and reduce oxygen available for muscles used during sports. • Smokers run slower and cannot run as far. • Tobacco smoke can make your hair and clothes stink. • Tobacco stains your teeth yellow and gives you bad breath. • Tobacco can cause cracked lips, white spots, sores, and bleeding in the mouth. Now use anti smoking medicine [moderator note: website address has been removed] and quit smoking very soon.
Re: help to stop a loved one from smokingI'll second that. Unless he's 100% committed to quitting, and desparately wants to quit, he won't quit. Even if he's totally committed, it's so hard, probably the hardest thing you'll ever do. But please don't nag him; I've had non-smoking b/f's who nagged me, it only made me want to smoke more, and in most cases, we'd break up over my smoking.
