Peritoneal dialysis

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Jul 09, 2002 12:29 pm

My father started PD in February in FLorida. He was taking pretty much the strongest dose four times a day. He is now in Indiana for the summer. The new nephrologist has said that you never take the strongest doses and that it can ruin the peritoneum. I feel that he has gone down hill since he has been "up north" and wonder if he should be on the 4.25 bags four times a day or is this dangerous.

Each patient on PD needs to be indivdually evaluated both for the number of exchanges and the concentration of glucose in the dialysate (i.e. 1.5 %; 2.5% or 4.25%).
I would strongly encourage you to have a discussion with you r Nephrologist.
