Improved Function - Discontinued ACE Inhibitor

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Nov 10, 2002 12:24 pm

Thanks for providing this service! I was diagnosed with renal insufficiency in Aug 2001. My creatinine clearance was 68. I was put on ACE inhibitors - Altace and then Cozaar. I got progressively more ill - my creatine clearance dropped to 25 in April and serum creatinine rose to 4, while BUN rose to 85 at it's worst. Stopped taking Cozaar at end of May - immediate improvement in feeling less ill and in August my creatinine clearance was up to 41. BUN and Creatinine were 24 and 1.7 respectively this week.

Is there any other possible reason other than coming off the ACE inhibitors? I'm diagnosed type 2 diabetic and my loss of renal function was attributed to my diabetes.

Thanks,
