newly dx renal artery stenosisI was just recently dx with renal artery stenosis. I had an angiogram yesterday and it is bilateral with 50% blockage. The dr. will not stent unless it is 70%. He was very positive about the situation. I had an angiogram of my heart and carotid last year when they thought I had 70% block of my right carotid but it all came out good and I only had 20% in 6 arteries. I can't understand why the blockage in my kidney arteries when my heart and circulatory showed no blockage. The dr who did the angiogram did not seemed overly concerned. He said we would continue to treat it with medication. I am just days from being 61 years old and never had high blood pressure until a couple of years ago. It is being controlled with Norvasc. I had a serious vasculitis disease in 2001 and almost died and I am wondering if that could have caused the problem and not artherosclorosis. I would like to hear from anyone who can tell me what to expect. Thank you, Sarah Jo
