Microalbumin test results

Post a new topicby sem1951 on Sun Oct 14, 2007 5:35 am

I have had Type 2 diabetes since 1999. Up until the past year, I had just taken the doctor's word for it that my microalbumin levels were normal. In July of 2006, my microalbumin level was 22. In August of 2007, it was 130. I had it checked again last week and it was 266. I was alarmed when it was 130, and even more concerned with this last result, but the nurse assured me that since I'm taking Diovan - which is an ARB - there's nothing else that needs to be done. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for me? I think I need to get a referral to either a diabetes specialist or a urologist Right or wrong?

If you have not seen a nephrologist that would be the place to start, good luck

I would go to a nephrologist. I am going to see one next month. My results were 790 last month and then after using a ACE inhibitor in addition to the diovan, it dropped to 394. Some improvement, but not enough.

Good luck, keep us posted
