kidney duplicating itself?

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Nov 13, 2003 4:43 pm

I have previously had abdominal and/or pelvic CT scans and while they showed some scarring from previous infections, there was nothing else on them.

Two days ago, after several weeks of abdominal, flank and back pain, I was sent for another abdominal CT scan, and this time, an "abnormal variance" came up -- the way the radiologist expressed it was that my left kidney was duplicating itself, blood source and all.

I did some searching on this and found it happened as a congenital thing, but since it didn't come up on any previous scan, I have trouble believing it's congenital.

Has anyone ever heard of this or experienced it? Does it have any medical significance, or is it just a fluky kind of thing?

Any help/info appreciated.
