prevention; Mg + B6This is the fourth time I have had kidney stones For me it always is complicated; they get stuck.
I 've had one uteroscopy+ stent and 3 lithotripsies this time around. sucks. I've focused alot of time on how to not have them come back. An ND ( naturopathic doctor) told me to take 150 mg of magnesium citrate 2x a day and a supplement of B6 once a day. Apparently the Magnesium binds with the calcium and keeps it soluble, so that it will not precipitate . The B6 takes care of the oxalic acid. This means that the oxalic acid and the calcium are never available to bond and form stones. There is alot of info about this in naturopathic circles. It could be interesting for anybody with this kind of stone as it is a pretty cheap and harmless. It is also important to let your self heal after all these operations we go through. many times we just think we are as good as new because we don't feel the emergency of pain anymore, but inside many tissues need to rebuild themselves. Also reduce stress, create situations that will help you feel grounded. Good Friends. Place a hot water bottle on your kidney. Strong kidneys are conducive to strength and courage and weak kidneys lead to fear. talk to your kidneys. tell them you love them and that you will help protect them. Accept yourself, forgive yourself eventhough you are not perfect. ( I say you but I say it for me !) Just wanted to throw it out there; it can't hurt to try! Wish you all luck Remi
Re: prevention; Mg + B6I have read about the B6. I have also read that Magnesium helps. But Magnesium Citrate- isn't that for constipation?
My daughter passes gravel daily. Protein and Brushite. Out of desperation, and after seeing many many doctors who hadn't helped her, I took my daughter to an ND. Or should I say witch doctor? She used a footbath to "detox" her. A machine had many color of foam coming out it. The NA said it wasn't from the machine- it was the toxins in her feet. Looked like the machine to me. She then spoke to my daughters fingers- yes her fingers. To decide which of her current medications were helping or hurting. She said my daughter should stop her "potassium" you can get it in bananas. Well, it was her potassium citrate- her stone med- of course we didn't stop it. Then my daughters fingers apparently told her which natural supplements would help. Ok, so I thought she was a wack. But I am a desperate mother. So I researched her list and bought (from her web site) some of the items she listed. Really I am intelligent- but again desperate that is my only excuse. Within 1 week she was passing more gravel than usual- one supplement was a kidney detox however with out stopping the production of the gravel just made her pass more. My daughter also wound up with Thrush. A yeast infection on her tounge from the "all natural antibiotic" to keep her healthy. Obviously I threw it all away. I am only addmiting that I had this lapse in judgement to incourage you to first speak to a regular MD before taking any supplements that have been suggested. consultation $50 foot bath $40 watching someone talk to your daughters fingers- Priceless. good luck!!
