percantaneous nephrolithotomy(my opinion)

Post a new topicby Uro-Greif on Sun Nov 15, 2009 7:27 pm

Hello everyone well I had my percantaneous nephrolithotomy Friday Nov.12th and 13th,09(this is the 15th) my urologist removed all my invaders(yipppeee) But after a mere three weeks my j-stent en-crusted so bad that he had to stop because i was under too long...so i get to heal abit and go back so he can go in with a Laser and cut this (comment removed by author) j-stent out of me I'm home now with a drainage tube coming out of my Kidney to a foley bag strapped to my leg but i feel fine and I highly recommend this procedure for large stones because of the short recovery time..quite abit more evasive and costly but i have lost so much of my life because of stones(i build one every 3 months) for over 30 yrs...i'm tired...I have a great team of Doctors and i will surely need them again... if you have a stone larger than 1.5CM ask about a PCNL( percantaneous nephrolithotomy) after several procedures i think this is the safest in the long run.I will follow up with you in a couple days... GoodLuck everyone,Bruce:)

1 week later: my uro went in to get the encrusted j-stent...I swear they drive a Dodge Ram 4x4 with the doors wide open to get there!!! ok so i'm not certain i was asleep...how-ever he managed to get there is not important all i know he retrived it via Holman laser BUT,He found a few more stones and had to place another double J-stent for at least 2 weeks, he felt it would be best to leave my nephrolithotomy drainage tube dangling in place as a precaution (no Foley Cath Bag) so here i sit
un-able to sleep because the pain meds don't react to me as a normal person...they keep me wide awake...as a male their point of entry is rather touchy so as you can imagine i'm abit sore but, i still feel this is the best procedure in the long run so with that said I will retain my previous opinion...if your reading this you must have your own concerns and/or problems so i will wish you the best of luck through out your condition,Peace* Bruce:) PS: if you ever get to the beautiful ribbon of Barrier islands that are off the east coast, usa(aka:OBX) stop by and say Hi
