new and in need

Post a new topicby feltner22 on Tue Jan 27, 2009 9:33 pm

I am a 32 year male who has had kidney stone sfor about 12 years. I have passed more stones than i can count but recently had my first one get caught in my ureter. After 3 procedrues and 2 bad reactions to meds I find my self for the first time really at a loss. I can deal with the daily pain most of the time. I do okay with listening to Dr's talk down to me as if I am lying. But now after the surgery and meds issues, I have decided i can't do this anymore. I really need some help with a diet to help me with my Calcium Oxalate stones. Some basic snacks and meals ideas would be great. I am a marathon runner and need a diet that is all encompassing. Anyone out there that can help...I would appreciate it.

Sounds like you need to be on a low oxalate diet. Check the website provided by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Unfortunately, you may have to totally change your present food diet. Ex: no more chocolate , nuts, dark beer, soy products, potatoes, peppers. IT appears there is no oxalate in meat or eggs. Good luck
