Help!!!!I've kidney stone 6.6mm big!!I've recently been rushed to hospital cause I had a sever pain in my back and lower abdomen where I came to know I have a stone in my kidney which is 6.6mm!! Now I don’t know how big my problem is because I only had the pain once. Doctor gave me voltarene D for 7 days and asked me to come back after 7 days but when I went back to the same doctor he was not there as he had to go on vacation and will only come back after 1 month. its been 5 days now but I don’t have any pain ever since the last time i had. Right now I'm all lost and confused what to do where to go and who to consult. Is this a very big stone or just a small stone that will itself pass away or do I need to take up a surgery. Please help as I just came to Oman and I don’t know any thing about stones. Please Help!!
Re: Help!!!!I've kidney stone 6.6mm big!!woops, new to this.the one I just passed was 8mm. mind you I have been passing stones for over 30 years.and I have passed over 90 of them at home.I dont even bother with the hospitals anymore .unless its really big.i just get my pills and pass them at home.and just found out today i have 16 more 8 in each kidney, and two of them are 17mm x 15.5 mm.going in for emergency ureteroscopy. If you every run out of pills go to any clinic they should help.Iv even gone into the hospital with wife and got a shot in butt ,then gone home. and they should give you enough pills for the night as well. mean while go to a clinic. no reason you should suffer. hope you get pain relief. I dont know what i would do with out my pills. i never leave home without them.never no when i will have attack.
Re: Help!!!!I've kidney stone 6.6mm big!!What!!! you just passed one of 8 mm?!! and you are taking pills ? what pills are these pain killers or to desolve stone? pills that I'm taking is just pain killers. Do you pass them painlessly ? I dont have pain and i havn't had pain ever since the first one I had. I heard that too much of medcine causes stone. as some one quoted ''I asked for bread and got stone instead''.
Re: Help!!!!I've kidney stone 6.6mm big!!The average size of a "passable" kidney stone is about 1mm - 5mm. It is still possible for you to pass the stone with no problems, but if you have never passed stones before then i would definately consult a urologist about other options. I would think about getting a lithotripsy. It's a very invasive procedure that breaks up the stone into sand so you are able to pass them painlessly. Kidney Stones are extremely painful and i wouldn't take a chance with that pain if there are other options. There is also a possibility of the stone not being able to pass all the way through your tract, which will cause you to go in for an emergency treatment anyways. If your dr. is gone, then i would find a different urologist who can get you some treatment.
Re: Help!!!!I've kidney stone 6.6mm big!!yes ,but i have lots of practice. and yes there just percocet.and yes it still hurts when i pass them.but now i have one 16 mm, that i canot pass, going in for emergency operation, other wise Iv been passing them at home for 30 years and there just getting worse and bigger.in the last 10 years I passed 18 stones , the largest 8mm x 7mm. they say i should not be hurting, what do they no. anyone who has never passed one ,cant say much... so when they say oh those stones should not hurt you, even though i have 8 stones in each kidney and bleed every day.they no nothing. i have been off work for 3 months now because of the two big ones,,,but they shouldnt be bothering me...there all nuts, my stones are like a piece of lava rock ,,,ya let me stick one of these in your kidney doc and tell me it doesnt hurt.
Re: Help!!!!I've kidney stone 6.6mm big!!I agree with the previous post. It's nice to find a urologist who has actually passed a kidney stone and then they can relate to your pain. I had a 22mm kidney stone and i honestly did not have any pain until it moved slightly. I had it removed out my back. I do have more kidney stones in my other kidney that i will pass on my own. Pain medication does help when passing stones, but i found that it didn't exactly take away my pain. It just helped to relax me. I have found that when passing kidney stones you will have the feeling of constantly needing to urinate. If you can hold it a little while and drink lots of water, it will be easier to pass the stone. (thats my personal advice)
Re: Help!!!!I've kidney stone 6.6mm big!!I was given Loritab, but many people are given percocet. Honestly, the pain pills help me to relax, they dont exactly take away the pain of passing a kidney stone. If you can relax and keep drinking lots of water, then you will be much more comfortable and hopefully pass easier.
