Frustrated mom, son 8 yr kidney stones,Q-parathyroid??

Post a new topicby hopefulmom on Tue Jun 30, 2009 8:22 pm

Help...my son has had stones for past 4 yrs. Only in left kidney. Began with Hydroneuphrosis, blockage in urethra tube and urine was not flowing from kidney to urethra. Stones began forming. He has had several ESWL (lithotripsy's), his stones are so hard it's taken 2ESWL's to crack stone, 2 incision surgeries on left side to remove stones. Nephrologist explains kidney is taking calcium from bones to form stones. I've been reading about the Parathyroids, but my question is...Can the parathyroid only affect one kidney? Right kidney has never produced stones!

thanks for any info you may have
