Methenamine is an antibiotic used frequently to treat urinary tract infection. Many people get infections when passing stones. If you are able to get rid of the infection before you pass the stone, the pain wont be nearly as bad. I always think that the infection hurts the wors. Anyways, it's a good med. I would not worry too much about the side effects.
