Bladder spasms, stent removed, blood in urine HELP!

Post a new topicby Suebacca on Sat Sep 27, 2008 8:21 am

I had my surgery(ureteroscopic) on Friday 9/17/08. And had the stent removed on Monday the 22nd. With the stent i was uncomfortable and there was blood in my urine. I was taking antibiotics and darvocet. Now the stent is gone. I am no longer on antibiotics. But i still have some pain. My pain is not in the back anymore but in the lower abdominal area. BLADDER!! its like a jab here and there constantly. i have still had blood in my urine an passed 4 blood clots in one day that was the 24th. Plus my urine was cloudy with darker blood and then light pink blood. I have no fever. No burning when I pee. But I freaked and called my DR and he said that it is normal and gave me Detrol LA to control the spasms. Well I am still at least once a day urinating blood. It can be clear for the most part of the day and then its all of a sudden bloody again. I have been taking Detrol LA for 2 days. Today will be day 3. Has anyone experienced blood in your urine after the stent was removed? And how long did it last? If my situation does not clear up I am going to the DR again of course. I am just worried. I havent had a blood clot in a day since the 24th. I am not working. i am at home. I am still taking it easy. Any suggestions or am I alone on this one?

Dear Suebacca

Are you sure that all stones are removed after surgery? May there are some quantities of sand or small pieces and they create this blood and pain?

Regards

I am sorry to hear that you are in pain from the removal of the stent. about 4 years ago when i was 11, i had a stent placed in and it had caused me more pain than the actual kidney stone. but i was in pain about 1 week after the stent was taken out, and had blood in my urine for about 2-3 weeks. just drink lots and lots of water!
best of luck

You story is familiar to me and even though you posted this a while ago, i still want to hear from you. I recently experienced a lot of blood and blood clots in my urine after a kidney stone surgery. My doctor's also told me it was normal. I was at home, taking it extremely easy, but about every other day i would get horrible pain in my bladder and pounding in my kidney and then it seemed as if my urine went from clear to very bloody and i would pass lots of large blood clots. (some of them were litterally inches in size) Then my urine would clear up for a few days and it would happen all over again. It seemed to get worse each time it happened, but my doctors still told me it was normal. It actually got so bad that i was passing out because i was loosing so much blood. I eventually ended up getting life flighted to a hospital about 3 hours away from me and having surgery and a few different procedures to fix the problem. But i wanted to know if yours went away on your own or if you ended up getting something done? I was just cureious because your story was so familiar to mine. Also, how large were your blood clots?
