Advice for Laser/Shock wave treatmentThursday the 27th, I will be having The Shock Wave/Laser procedure done..I have no idea what to expect, as my Doc isn't very "People-Friendly". My stones are 12mm and 6mm.
I also am on my 4th week with this stent and feel as though I am ready to literally explode. I have gained 4 pounds, which for my normal 102-3 weight, it actually hurts. I am bloated as all heck, and have indigestion and acid reflux ALL the time. Are these the "benefits" of this lovely apparatus? Any input would be Greatly appreciated!!
Re: Advice for Laser/Shock wave treatmentYour surgeon will replace stent with a new one after your procedure and, it sounds to me like your having both shockwave and Laser. with your stent in for 4 weeks it should be ok but i have read where they can calcify in as little as 3 weeks after placement but as long as he or she has a laser on-site all should be ok...be certain to ask for the smallest stent possible to go along with your stature and insist to have it removed as quick as possible (shouldn't be very long with a 12mm) MAYBE just MAYBE you will be up and about in 2 weeks...GoodLuck:) as for the heartburn and reflux i had a touch of that but it went away just remember: stay as active as possible and don't forget to GUZZLE UP with room temperture water !!! (cold water can cause reflux) stay away from EVERYTHING citrus including lemonade while you have a stent...no achoholic drinks too(even Beer) I hope this helps, Let us know(the group) how it went with your surgery... Bruce
Re: Advice for Laser/Shock wave treatmentThanks Bruce for your input/reply that helped me alot!!
Along with finding the stones they also found that inside my unusually large Uteral Cell, which was a malfunctioning mess, was also a stone, 1' in diameter. They have repaired and removed all in that area, through the stent, and so next comes the Laser/Shock Wave.. Do you have any idea what I should expect to feel like following this procedure on Thursday? Thanks Again, Marian
Re: Advice for Laser/Shock wave treatmentkeep a possitive attitude and if all goes ok with shockwave it will feel as if your kidney was punched by a gorrilla...when i had my shockwave in '04 my stent was ridiculus so im not sure if it was the punch or a stiff (or too big ) Stent but i was in 6-7-8 pain scale constantly it was 2.4CM...now with this one(2.5CM) im healing from my second laser surgery last week on march 20th'08 this is my third stent (all of them have been good placements...im happy to say) your biggest issue with you
(and everyone else that has one) is your stent calcifing because my numberous KUB's did NOT show my stent was in trouble...Here is some food for thought...when i asked my uro about water...I asked him if distilled water would be better than spring water...shrugged his shoulders and said "spring water has alot of minerals" HHmmm so i wonder...Mineral buildup = stones I'm all ears for anyone who would care to comment on this subject
Re: Advice for Laser/Shock wave treatmentWow Bruce, only 5 days Post.. EEEK, hope you are feeling much better.
Thanks for the tips and the insight, you've been a huge help! I'm trying to stay active, but then I end up passing blood in my urine. Same thing if I stand too long, but I will get there.. I sure have a ton of sympathy now for Stone Patients!!! Marian
