Surprise for an “old pro”

Post a new topicby livingwith on Fri Dec 05, 2008 12:34 pm

After passing 20 or so stones and two lithotripsies I thought I was getting good at this. My last few have been passed without the help of a Doctor or Hospital and confidence was high that I had developed an immunity to the pain. That ended this week when I woke up Tuesday morning at 4:00am with a stabbing pain in my left side.
I knew immediately what it was and started my usual routine of flushing water, drinking cranberry juice and pacing the floor. Unfortunately I vomited the cranberry juice...Read the full article

I believe you can pass stones and have the pain weeks apart from each other... and either one can be in the first position.

Last Nov 4 days after surgery (utererscopy) I had a colic episode that lasted about 11 hours. I finally got help after going to 2 ERs, plus the pain began to diminish on its own too. I was fine the next day. Then 16 days after that I passed the stones from 11 am on Tuesday to 11 pm on Friday, every time I urinated there were stones... this was over Thanksgiving and I was afraid I would end up back at the ER.

Also a nurse told me when you go to 2 ERS they think you are a drug addict and seeking pain medication. I do not know what you are supposed to do if you wait for treatment and can not stand the pain any longer.... I could not. My pain was over a 10 and they thought I could sit in the ER waiting room for a few hours. The pain medication I had wore off after I had been there 2 hours or so and no one was concerned about it. There was a paramedic who was the gatekeeper and I complained and he had either quit or was fired a few weeks later.
