I sympathize with all of you. I am in pain now, It is constant and in my right mid back that extends under the right rib cage. ^6 weeks almost non stop. In 2003, I had CT scan of abdomen for other reasons and it showed a 6mm “soemthing: in the left ureter. I do not remeber having pain in the kidney area. GYN sent me to a urolgist and he said it is a stone and is too big to pass and too big for Lithoscopy so must have a general anesthesia and a stent placed to remove this stone. I believe it is called a VIP xray that I have had many times to view for kidney stones. The size your talking about can't hide. You mention the right side pain near the rib cage. This also could be a gallstone which I am familiar with because I had such a pain before my gallbladder removal. A ultra sound will spot any stones in the gallbladder. This pain was front and back in the second rib area on the right side.

You didn't mention what kind of kidney stone removal surgery?
