Post a new topicby livingwith on Wed Sep 17, 2008 3:12 pm

I hope someone has some advise as round 3 of kidney stones is coming for me.
First round was when I was 17 and went misdiagnosed as a bad back. The stones grew so large that they merged and covered the entire kidney. Finally x age 24 and in constant daily pain in desperation I went to a chiropractor who sent me to get xrays. Within 3 days i was in the hospital for surgury.
Round 2 was in 2001 and started as a pain in the back that wouldn’t respond to advil. By the end of the day, I got w...Read the full article

I'm sorry that you're in pain. I havent had the "joy" of passing stones. My stones were taken out bilaterally in the flank two years ago, all infectious. The stones I have branch out to the collecting ducts of the kidney hence I have lost 1/2 my kidney function in both kidneys. My uros dont seem to be concerned about that.

It's worse for males. . I wouldnt wait for treatment. I know you need to work, but you're health and body are important.

Mine never pass.

As far as I know, I'm not a doctor, but Morphine is the highest you can go in pain meds. There is Soma & Norco but those could also be addicting. . I have bilateral flank pain never believed by my uro. I have percocet for emergency. I also dont take pain meds dont want to be popping them like candy. . I just grin & bear it. .

I hope you get well

Hi - I would suggest that you get immediate surgery to remove the stones - you will feel a whole lot better. Your health is so much more important than work schedules. Get the Lithro..... as soon as possible to eliminate the sufferring and pain.

Kevin,
I understand how you feel. I have had chronic kidney stones for almost 3 years. Doctors are always accusing you of drug seeking. I wish some of the doctors I have seen could have my stones. I was told by one ER Physician that I had a condition in which people seek drugs for. How humiliating. They can see the stones in the kidney but they always say if they are in the kidney that they dont hurt. What a joke. Are there any compassionate physicians left out there? Hang in there and believe yourself. It is your body and you are the only one that really knows.
Good Luck,
Melissa

I used to have the same problem if they are in the kidney you shouldnt be in pain...i finally have a uro who is proactive on my case...my last treatment was 10/24 when they basketed a 3mm stone...since my stones never pass...lasertripsy or ESWL isnt the treatment I have and now I have family drauma intermixed into all of this...something i havent told my recent uro quite yet...now i am told by my UTI doctor since i get recurring infections from the stones that the bacteria can swim up into the kidney tissue and attach to the calcifications and as you probably know they dont treat calcifications when they are in the tissue...I have been a kidney stone sufferer for only 2 years but its been the longest 2 years of my life...

just hang in there! Find a good urlogist who believes you especially if they have ever passed a stone themselves. They are usually much better with pain management.
