Frustrated momMy 19 year old daughter has been in pain on and off for 3 weeks now. In the beginning she was extremely nauseous, but that has passed. Her pain is in the left flank area. She has a constant ache and the sharp, stabbing pains come and go.
Last week she was admitted to the hospital for two days, after taking her to the emergency room. All of her tests have come back negative, including two cat-scans and an ultrasound. On three occasions, she has passed sand-sized stones. I made the mistake of put...Read the full article
Re: Frustrated momDear Frustrated Mom,
I have had many appointments with stupid urologists. I have had chronic kidney stones for almost 3 years. I have been told it was psychological even though they see the kidney stones. I am also a nurse and have some experience in the field. Look for a compassionate MD who will listen. Please believe your daughter. This is most important. My family has not been very supportive and that has been difficult. Keep looking. Good Luck, Melissa
Re: Frustrated momHello Livingwith,
Yes, your bringing back painful memories. I arrived at the emergency room, was asked to fill out forms, and the pain threw me onto the floor. Was scooped up into a wheel chair and hurried into the triage area. The pain increased rapidly. A matter of minutes and I was in my car and off to the emergency room. Anyway, they referred me to Dr. Busky. Chesapeake Urology Systems..Maryland. Dr. Busky applied a stint to prevent the stones aflling into the bad area again. Then he scheduled surgery to go up through the stint and remove the stone. No cuts, little pain afterward. Done. Next, Dr. Busky scheduled a procedure call Lithotripsy on the other kidney. This procedure has you submerged in water while a machine slowly breaks the stone through impulses. Once again, painless and sedated. Dr. Busky is the man. Insurance paid the entire cost... I recently developed a Urinary tract infection - Prostrate infection, probably caused by a another stone shown in my new KUB and Ultrasounds. My primary care doctor referred me to someone else. I went to Dr. Busky. He is on the case. Pronto. Both the UTI and the Prostrate. Probably tied together. Get the surgery. Probably the same procedures I had and live your life. Just stay on top of your situation and get a Dr. like Dr. Busky. Take care, David
