After a liver transplant I suffered from uric acid kidney stones every few years.
Four months ago I had a severe attack in both kidneys. CT scan showed a cluster of stones in one kidney and I was scheduled for surgery three months hence by a urologist
Shortly after my nephrologist put me on 100 mg of allopurinol daily and a month later another doctor added sodium bicarbonate because of low blood serum levels of carbonate.
For a number of weeks I kept passing stones.
