Anyone have this happen AFTER surgery

Post a new topicby livingwith on Fri Oct 17, 2008 11:22 am

I passed a rather large stone 5 years ago. After I passed it I underwent 2 lithropsy’s which were both unsuccessful to break up the much larger stone located in my lower right kidney. Since the surgeries my testicles ache every once and a while. It seems to me that its when I eat spicy or greasy food. When the ache starts it really affects me psychologically. I have to immediatley stop what I am doing for fear of another stone attack.
I used to have these weekly and now maybe happen...Read the full article

Hi,
I have this same thing and have had many staghorn stones over the past 40 years. And just like you I have a large stone in my lower right kidney. I know what you are talking about the mental affect the insecurity of not knowing if you will wake up and there that pain is . Is it time to go back on antibiotic or go in for surgery? I am now set up with a new doctor at ASU med center ( my old doctor retired and I also moved from Calif to AZ.) They are putting me through all the test ct, nuclear study, and all the Blood work and so on.
I really feel for you. All I can do for you is say don't wait and if your doctor is to busy or not giving you the care you need find another and do right away. I have been through 7 or 8 doctors in my 56 years some died or moved two have retired. I have found that the best doctors are found at teaching hospitals. They keep up on all the new and less invasive surgeries.
In many cases like yours and mine doctors will say you may Lose your kidney. Don't believe it. With all the new technology laser and percutainius( I am not sure I spelled it right ). But please do not give in. Ask your doctor to please help me, the pain is just to bad. If he or she will not do anything find a new doctor. Ask for answers and do not let them out of the exam room without a answer. You are the Boss you are the one that is suffering don't live in pain. Be aggressive if the doctor is not treating you aggressively go to some one else.
I hope your pain gets better and take control don't just be passive and your mental outlook will be in better shape.
Best Regards keep fighting DRD
