TCCIs re a difference between renal cell cancer transitional cell carcinoma is found inside kidney? I thought Trans. cell cancer occurred in bladder. Can tell me something about TCC how aggressive it would be in kidney? A 3.2 cm mass just found on renal CT not re one year ago on CT. It is adjacent to cst has not changed. Is fast growing? Thank
Re: TCCIn taking the information here and in the subsequent addition I honestly can say that unless there has been a biopsy there is no way to know what you have. The only way to get tissue is to undergo a nephrectomy (removal of the kidney). One a diagnosis has been secured then the next step is to determine the stage of the disease. Once this has been done then a determination of prognosis can be evaluated. Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck.
re: TCC...may I add to my question - The renal CT report reads in part as follows: "3.2 cm mass in upper pole of kidney apparently originating from the collection system compatible with transitional cell carcimoma.."
Is there anything else (benign) that this could be? It appears the radiolgist is pretty certain I guess. Is surgery the ONLY option for TCC in the kidney? How extensive is it apt to be considering its location? Are there any trials ongoing for this that you know of? I am in the process of switching urologists and would really appreciate your answers so I can be more informed when I see my MD.
