Seek 2nd opinion?

Post a new topicby jmickey on Tue Dec 18, 2007 11:03 pm

I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on my story and if I should be concerned with getting a second opinion?

It started with me finding that I have an enlarged thryoid, they found 3 nodes. After not receiving blood tests, I went back to my doctor. The blood tests turned out fine; however, they found that I have hematuria (microscopic blood in my urine). They did 2 urinalysis to find the microscopic blood. I was immediately sent to a urologist. The family doctor ordered an ultrasound before I saw the urologist The ultrasound showed a cyst on my right kidney and that I had two "pipes" coming out of my kidney to my bladder. He then ordered a CT scan and scope test. The CT scan showed that I had a fibroid tumor on my uterus (no mention of the cyst). They thought the fibroid might be what is causing the blood. It was suggested that I see the gynecologist to have it taken care of before my 6-month urology appointment. I had another ultrasound done to check the fibroid. I went to see the gynecologist who received the ultrasound results (as did the urologist) and there was no fibroid. I'm concerned that something is being missed. The scope test did not show anything either.

Has anyone had any experience as this?
