renal pelvis cancer-duration of hematuria and cancer stage

Post a new topicby dkssud on Fri Aug 10, 2007 12:42 pm

Hello.
I am 50yr old male who just had kidney removal because of renal pelvis cancer. My doctor thinks taht the cancer was in early stage, but I am concerned because I've had asymptomatic hematuria(blood in urine) for over a year till it was diagnosed as cancer. Could someone please help me out? Since my hematuria lasted for over a year, woulnd't that mean that cancer has spread???

The length of time you had hematuria does not correlate with spreading of the cancer. The pathology report should be able to tell if it was completely removed, i.e. clear margins with no invasion. That should be what your doctor used to tell you it hadn't spread. Sounds like you are fine but you will need monitoring. Good luck
