Pains - Sciatic Nerve/Kidney Stones

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Aug 10, 2002 10:03 pm

Having just had an "out of nowhere, literally" malignant tumor on my left kidney and being removed December, 2001. Two weeks ago, I had pain like I've never had, ER, no blood in urine "possible kidney stone." The pain generates from the "sciatic nerve" in the back of my buttocks, directly going straight through to the front. Have a lot of pressure in the lower part of my abdomen, feeling like I have to urinate often, but not, seems more like a "dribble" than a regular urine. The primary care dr. did a CT Scan (without dye ... don't know what the difference is having dye or not) Friday to rule out a "tumor." I also have a "dent" in my right buttock ... he called it "atrophy" about the size of a quarter which stays discolored. This dent "pulls" the section inward (like an inverted lump."

Any help and/or any sound familiar to ANYONE, please let me know! The pain generates up towards my RIGHT kidney in the back and constantly feels like someone is stabbing me in the "sciatic nerve" area going through to the front!

Thank you,
K. Allegro

Such a scenario might be due to many (and more than one) issue(s).
A CT without contrast is good for stones, but not perfect, and can miss other problems.
Sciatica is a common problem and can cause extreme pain.
I am not sure what the “dent” represents.
Please see your doctor for a follow-up exam/imaging tests as needed to uncover the cause of these symptoms.

Thank you for your response. Seems as though, the "dent" is yet another GRANULOMA. Had them in my lung surgery 11 years ago, had them when they look in my lungs to make sure the cancer in my kidney hadn't spread to my lungs, and now it appears to be an "injection granuloma!" and no, have not had any injections recently to explain.

Now, we're at the GYN., taking 600 mg. of Motrin every 6 hours, and awaiting the possibility of a Laparascopy. The Urologist did do a Catheter Urine, and no UTI, but that's AFTER a week of the medication that makes your urine look like a "sunset."

The doctors appear to be baffled ... will look up Siatica on the Internet though ... would that penetrate to the pelvic area as well?

Thanks again ... it's nice SOMEONE LISTENED to ME!
Kathleen

Sciatica would not typically cause such pelvic pain, but your gynecologist should be able to make the correct diagnosis and get you pain improved.
