Kidney tumor

I have been diagnosed with a small tumor on my left kidney. The Dr wants to wait 6 weeks and then scan it again before making a decision. He does not want to do a biopsy rather just take the kidney itself or part of it. Is this waiting period dangerous and what do you suggest I do?
