Follow-up to Kidney Cancer and Chemotherapy

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

My mor's kidney tumor has now been removed ( tumor had grown quickly to size of an eggplant). She still has RCC in spine, femur has small spots on lungs. How quickly does RCC usually spread once tumor has been removed. should I expect to happen over next couple of years (hopeful n't I!)

It sounds as if the disease has already spread and the surgery was to prevent pain and bleeding from the primary kidney tumor (also there is an approximate 4% chance that removing the primary tumor will lead to disappearance of the metastasis). Rapidity of growth can only be measured over time so how fast it progresses cannot be determined. Thank you for using oncologychannel and please write back if other questions should arise. Good luck.
