Dad Has Kidney Cancer

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

My dad is 88 years old is in a very weakened state. While in hospital y discovered a large tumor in his right kidney also said his lymph nodes were swollen. y also found a mass in one of his lungs. I just wondering how aggressive is kidney cancer? He is unable to undergo any kind of treatment considering his age condition. y weren't even able to do a biopsy to be sure it is cancer. lymph nodes swollen could it be anything else? Do think his life expectancy could be very long? Thank any answers can give.

Kidney cancer (aka renal cell cancer) is a very aggressive cancer in general. If in fact the disease is renal cell cancer and it has spread to the lung it would be considered stage 4 or metastatic disease. In the absence of therapy (for which there is currently no good therapy) life span is usually considerable shortened. Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck.
