Concerned about setback

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Aug 04, 2002 11:32 am

My 76 year old father had a kidney removed in Feb. due to a cancerous tumor. Subsequent tests showed that all was well and he seemed to slowly recover. They did discover diabetes during this and he is on medication and under control.Continually lostweight, experiences weakness and fatigue, has pain in side, urinates at least every hour, day and night, and has had 1 episode of blood in urine A urine test showed white blood cells but further tests came back "negative" (for what?)
He is scheduled for scope in 3 weeks, but does he need to see the dr. before then? They keep putting him off. What could this be? Thank you so much.

“A urine test showed white blood cells but further tests came back "negative" (for what?)”.
I suspect either there were no longer white cells present on a subsequent urinalysis or the urine culture was negative.
The symptoms currently described might be due to many things (perhaps not related to the tumor), but if he continues to fail, insisting on a re-evaluation before three weeks seems very reasonable.
