benign tumor angiomyolipoma

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jan 01, 2006 10:06 am

Just curious if anyone can tell me if an ultrasound is sufficient diagnosis for this type of tumor, and how can they tell it's benign.
I was told I have a 9mm mass on the upper right pole of my kidney, it is well circumscribed and echogenicity was slightly greater than the renal sinus fat.Further study indicated in six months for diagnosis...I would like to know how certain a radiologist could be on this, and what the difference is with a maligimant tumor and should I see a Urologist or avoid certain medications , monitor blood pressure, avoid certain things like salt??? my G.p doesn't seem too concerned.. I am though. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks

A cat scan would give a lot more information, it could tell if fat was involved and provide a much more accurate diagnosis of an angiomyolipoma
