I was diagnosed with Bi-lateral renal cell carcinoma in Oct of ‘05. for those of you who don’t know what bi-lateral is, it’s cancer on both kidneys simultaneously. Fabulous huh? It only happens to less that 25 of those who are newly diagnosed and primarily it happens to men.
I though my life was over! Of course all things run through your head. How could this happen, not to me I’m healthy with no medical problems at all, I’m of thin build, do not smoke or drink, not...Read the full article

I'm right their with you except for the bi-lateral part. I had my left kidney out 5 and1/2 years ago and am doing fine. I have a post under peer to peer and a number of comments their for my story, under gborin. Hopefully these will help keep your spirit positive. I too never smoked, drink very, very moderately, but probaly am about 20 lbs. overweight as a result of my wife's 2 child births some 40 years ago,

I was diagnosed on 7/05 with stage 2 RCC in my left kidney. Had a radical nephrectomy. I agree, live each day as if tomorrow was a gift, because it is! I am doing fine physically but emotionally I still get waves of saddness mostly about the thought of leaving my daughter. I really want to see her graduate from college, get married and spoil her children someday. That is what keeps me going. I have not had any other treatment since the surgery. I'm told at this point that the longer I go without recoccurance the better the chances are that it will not come back. I get checked once a year now. I was wondering what other treatments are being recommended for you and what are you being told your future prognosis is? Had your cancer spread or in other words what stage was your cancer when you were first diagnosed?
