Electrolyte Imbalance and Disorientation, Confusion, and No RecollectionI am sharing my story because I had never heard of an electrolyte imbalance until it happened to me and this has been a traumatic experience.
Here’s my story: Late in February (2008), I went to drive a friend of mine home. I dropped her off, waved goodbye, and drove nine and a half hours lost (in a city that I grew up in) until I ran off the road an hour from my house and had a blow-out on a tire. The police came as well as a wrecker and I was arrested for possible DWI/DUI. I was in jail ...Read the full article
Re: Electrolyte Imbalance and Disorientation, Confusion, and NoI have written before on this site in reply to another story about electrolyte imbalance. I experienced the same symptoms as you, however, it did not get totally out of control as in your case. Confusion is strange as you scarcely know you are confused. If you have read the few other postings you will see that everyone pretty much has been told to limit liquid intake, and drink Gatorade. I have been doing this for months now and seem to be better. It doesn't take much for the old symptoms to return so you have to be very vigilant. Not much fun at all, but so far this seems to be the solution - no magic meds from what I have been told.

Re: Electrolyte Imbalance and Disorientation, Confusion, and NoThanks so much, Alena. I have felt so alone with this situation except for my spouse. The legal matters are getting to him also. We are still waiting for the blood test results and this can take from 3-6 months in Texas because we have had some crooked going-ons in our crime labs. The blood tests have to go to the capital city, Austin.
I appreciate your suggestions. I didn't realize that I could drink too much liquid. I seem to stay dehydrated. I have diabetes also so that may be contributing to this. I will definitely put GatorAde on my shopping list. I saw that there is a water called Lyte Water put out by Snapple that can be purchased at HEB, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, and many other stores. Snapple.com has all of the listings. Warmly, cccc
