Financial help for kidney disease

Post a new topicby Thumper2 on Fri Nov 21, 2008 12:58 am

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 1998. My gastroenterologist treated me with prednisone and Asacol, then in 1999 switched me to Imuran. I began to lose kidney function and, after a biopsy in 2002, I was diagnosed with Interstitial Nephritis. My nephrologist changed my blood pressure medicine several times, but my kidney function did not improve until I stopped taking Imuran. My kidney function has slowly declined over the last few years, and I am about to start dialysis. I have a good job, but my medical bills are slowly driving me into bankruptcy.

I believe either the Asacol or Imuran cost me my kidneys. Do these drug companies have any patient assistance programs for those that are allergic to their products?
